Small wind turbines are wind turbines used for microgeneration, as opposed to large scale commercial wind turbines.
Small wind turbines generally produce from 1kW to 30kW, though Windkinetic has even smaller turbines, rated 2oW and 50W. This small wind turbines can also be called micro wind turbines.
The majority of small wind turbines are traditional horizontal axis wind turbines (like Windkinetic Magellano range) but vertical axis wind turbines (like Windkinetic Polar range) are a growing type of wind turbine and often deployed in very demanding areas.
Our small wind turbines are meant for off-grid application and the sectors we serves are multiples: nautical, telemetry, telecommunication, surveillance systems… and everywhere there is a need to power small loads.
Our small wind turbines are installed worldwide and prove reliable in extreme harsh environment conditions, both in cold and hot temperatures.
Generally small wind turbines are usually complementary to solar panels and together with battery bank and charge controllers they make an hybrid system.
